By 2014, most people willbe aware that a healthy, happy, loving family is a joy to be part of, and thatit is a necessary foundation for building a strong society. But for most, awareness will not become reality. People will be subjected to increasinglymore different influences. Advertisers will create new desires and turn theminto necessities. This will leave people feeling confused about their valuesand importance.

Too many people are alreadystuck in the beliefs of the “Me Generation”, so they fail to appreciate thatthere is a time in life when they must sacrifice (牺牲) and be responsible. At atime when adults need to become focused on the needs of their family, they willbe subjected to other influences. Some will use bad timing as they proudlysacrifice for a more powerful car or a luxury house, some will be addicted totaking risks, and others will recite phrases like “I must become the best I canbe” or “I don’t want to be tied down”. The needs of their family will be lostin many other important things.

Many people have notactually experienced a solid positive family life, so they will tend to denyits worth (and unfortunately, some will even believe it doesn’t exist). Many people have always experienced family lifeas a struggle, so they won’t find time and energy for a workshop, and probablywon’t even recognize the need.

But it is extremelyimportant for our future that we keep a healthy perspective (观点). We need to value andappreciate the importance of what can be achieved by loving and responsibleparents. People need a strong foundation, so it is important for our societythat we encourage parents to work at creating love, joy, and happiness fortheir children in a decent, stable, and productive atmosphere.

     A. Jack, whose parents often quarrel with each other and evenfight with each other.

     C. Tim, whose father is kind both to his wife and children andto his neighbours.

     D. Helen, who used to be an orphan but soon was adopted by aloving and kind couple.

Earlier, there was a misunderstanding thatoverweight or obesity is only found in the case of adults or older people. However, in recent years it has been found that more and more children andtoddlers are also prone to weight gain. In fact, it is found that obesity andweight gain in children is one of the serious issues causing alarm in parentsall over the world.

What results in sudden weight gain in toddlers, children and teenagers? Their eating habits and diet rank first among whatleads to sudden weight gain. Most parents are unaware of the unhealthy eatingchoices their children make while eating outside or at school. Secondly, children are constantly exposed to fast and junk food, and they tend to consumeexcess calories and fat. Thirdly, children and teenagers may also suffer fromweight gain during the attack of puberty (青春期). Girls are more likely to put on weight at thebeginning of their menstrual (月经的) cycle. On the other hand, complete lack ofphysical activities, genetics, hormonal (荷尔蒙的) imbalance can also cause rapid weight gain inchildren.

Being obese can make a child more prone to highblood pressure and diabetes. Secondly, parents should also note that obesitycan lower the morale of the child and lead to psychological problems. So it isnecessary to treat and prevent it. Some children tend to gain weight even whenthey consume calories that are even slightly higher than the required ones. Inthis case, parents themselves should go for healthy foods so as to set anexample to the children. If weight gain occurs during puberty, you shouldconsult the doctor to get the condition checked. Physical activity and exerciseis a must for all toddlers, children, teenagers as well as young adults toremain fit and healthy. Daily jogging, running, swimming or any sports activityis also helpful to get rid of the excess calories in the body and preventweight gain. As lack of sleep and weight gain are also found to be interlinked,as a parent, you should keep a watch out for your child’s sleeping habits andpatterns.

In a word, you should consult the doctor as soon aspossible to get the condition diagnosed in case your child suffers fromunexplained weight gain. Following the doctor’s advice, healthy diet andexercise routine can help in getting rid of the condition.
