三、任务型读写

阅读下面短文,根据所读内容在表格中的空白处填入恰当的单词。

注意:每个空格只填一个单词。

To understand the concept of collective consciousness, you need to accept the fact that we, as humans, are all one, a small part of the whole. In fact, we aren’t just one, and each of our actions and thoughts forms a part of our karma (因缘) and others’. When we share a collection of common ideas, morals, attitudes and beliefs, we, as a society, are tied together by a strong force. This is the essence and spirit of collective consciousness. Research deeper into the subject and you’ll find many such instances in our daily life.

Nature offers some of the best instances of this concept. A well-known example is that of ants. Observe them carefully, and you’ll find that they always live together in colonies, doing their little bit for the group. However, if you separate a part from the colony, they’ll perform the same tasks at the same time as their fellows. This can be dismissed as a coincidence, but you can try out an experiment. Drop a food crumb (碎屑) that is too large to be carried by a single ant, and do this to an ant that is distanced from the rest of the colony. You’ll observe that the other ants will come and help immediately. How do they know about the food or about their colony members wanting help? Is it the smell of the food? Many believe this is an example of collective consciousness in action.

Have you noticed we’re severely affected by the disasters that occur worldwide? Whenever we hear reports of natural disasters like floods, earthquakes, hurricanes, etc., we tend to feel a common grief. We share a common sadness for those hit by the disaster. Why do we pray together for all the poor and feel happy when there is some good news after the disaster? Is this just being nice? Somewhere, we were all made to connect to each other.

According to reliable sources, certain findings have been made, which lead us to believe that even science supports collective consciousness. This was observed when multiple people located in geographically different locations came up with the same kind of inventions at around the same time. For instance, the Laws of Conservation of Energy was proposed by 4 different people in 1847. Sunspots were discovered in 1611 by 4 different people.

There are many more such examples of collective consciousness. In a word, collective consciousness defines the rules of reality. The shared faith and beliefs act as a unifying force and a guiding factor to understand the universal mind connectedness. Therefore, practice this concept in your daily life. Start believing we’re all one, and that we all are connected.

四、书面表达

Can you work out the 14th root (14次方根) of a 16-digit number? How long will you need to work it out? Recently, Zhou Wei, who was seen on “The Strongest Brain” show on Jiangsu TV, worked it out in just one minute.

However, this 23-year-old young man from Wutai county, Shanxi province was a rural child diagnosed with “moderate brain damage”. As most disabled children in the rural area in China, Zhou Wei endured a tough childhood because of his disease, being teased by his peers, refused by the schools, etc.

That night, his nearly perfect talent show greatly surprised those who once ignored and looked down upon him. From “moderate brain damage” to “the strongest brain”, the up and down of fate is quite impressive. The mathematical genius hits the most soft place in people’s inner world: once a discriminated (受歧视的) life can actually release the power of life that even “normal” people cannot reach. How amazing it is!

Right now, as the most famous person in his hometown, local authorities eventually heard about Zhou’s talent. They said that the government will finance his family and protect him from further discrimination.

【写作内容】

1. 以约30个词概括上文的主要内容;

2. 以约120个词就Zhou Wei事件谈谈你的看法,内容包括:

(1) 你对周玮事件的感想;

(2) 周玮的才能为什么迟迟未被发现,给出你的分析;

(3) 人们应该如何正确看待周玮现象。

【写作要求】

1. 作文中可以使用亲身经历或虚构的故事,也可以参照阅读材料的内容,但不得直接引用原文中的句子;

2. 作文中不能出现真实姓名和学校名称。

【评分标准】概括准确,语言规范,内容合适,篇章连贯。

参考答案:

01-15 DABCA  CDADB   ADBCA  16-35 DBCBA   DCDCA      ABDCD      BAACB

1. connected 2. shared / common 3. serving 4. separated 5. Collective       6. victims 7. please

8. parts / corners  9. understanding  10. belief

One possible version:

Zhou Wei’s mathematical talent showed on “The Strongest Brain” turned him into an overnight sensation, winning him a lot of respect and admiration. Ironically, he used to be a neglected creature, diagnosed with “moderate braindamage”.

Greatly impressed by Zhou’s perfect talent, I admire him deeply. However, what strikes me is that: how many geniuses like Zhou Wei in China are still living in the shadow of discrimination?

Zhou Wei belongs to a special group who have difficulty living a normal life but are always gifted in a certain field, such as math, music, painting, etc. Unfortunately, there are serious shortcomings in the education and care for this group. Many people look down on them; some see them as “troubles”; some experts even rudely judge them as “patients”. Thus, the so-called “moderate brain damage” almost buried a true genius.

In my opinion, the “Zhou Wei phenomenon” shouldn’t be regarded as interesting news to satisfy our curiosity. It’s urgent that a long-term system be established to ensure special geniuses are fairly treated. The whole society should take the responsibility without hesitation.
