2015年高三考前练习(完形填空、任务型阅读、写作部分)(T

Friendship can be found closer to you than you think — even in your own home.   1   up, I knew I always had a great friend in my elder brother.

My brother and I had a tradition of never letting the other   2   the mishaps that “accidentally” occurred between us in our   3  . To be fair, my “accidents” sometimes involved “accidentally”   4   him around the house with a golf club in my hand swinging wildly. My favorite memory is the time when my brother   5   a dart (飞镖) at the dartboard while I happened to be standing in front of it,   6   the darts. I remember how he stood there, half-horrified, half-smiling, watching the dart hang from my back, drooping (下垂) in my bare skin. He also threw a truck at my knees   7   I was just about four years old. To make matters worse, instead of making sure that my brother   8   what he was doing, my dad pulled out the camera and took a picture. Neither of them feels any   9   for this.

Another memory that sticks in my mind is both   10   and comforting. One night, we were staying in my aunt’s house and I was really   11   about something. I just remember my crying in my brother’s arms while we were trying to go to bed. I’ve forgotten why I cried so   12   and long. The important thing is that I have this   13   of knowing my brother was there with me and feeling comforted by him. When I look back, it is nice to know that two brothers could share that kind of   14   with each other without even thinking about it. I love that.

We had and still have a strong bond. The times when I did   15   him because my brother has a sweet and caring   16  make me feel good. That is a feeling I have experienced so rarely in my life — feeling completely understood even   17  speaking. More often than not, my path feels lonely,   18   I’ve realized that discovering my own   19   is even more of a reason to cherish a sibling (兄弟姊妹) I can relate to and trust. Sometimes that is all one has, and it can be a most precious  20  .

It takes great leadership styles to build great teams, and there are five leadership styles you can use to build a great team. One of them is transformational leadership that focuses on transforming individuals. The style is about taking people through a journey of initiatives (主动性) that lead to positive changes in the way they do things. This leadership style encourages engagement from everyone in a team and leads to high productivity. However, the aspect of transformational change sometimes results in work being done, but not quite reliably. When work isn’t done reliably, other leadership styles should be incorporated to address the shortcoming and ensure routine work is done reliably.

Another leadership style is democratic leadership, a style of leadership that is very open in the way it builds and manages a group of people. Members of the group take a more participative role in the decision-making process but the final decision is made by the leader. This leadership style makes team members enjoy great levels of job satisfaction because they’re involved in decision-making processes throughout. Unfortunately, participation takes time, and it can slow decision-making and be a hindrance (妨碍) in situations where speed or efficiency is essential.

The third one is servant leadership, which is a style where a leader’s primary role is to serve a group of people. The leader leads by example with generosity. He or she is focused on meeting the needs of the team. Servant leadership helps create a positive company culture and can lead to high moral among team members. However, it demands high levels ofintegrity (正直) and takes time to apply correctly. You can easily find yourself falling behind other leaders who use other leadership styles.

The fourth style is people-oriented leadership. It’s a style that takes into account people’s strengths and talents. The leader is focused on organizing, supporting and developing individual team members, as well as improving the welfare of the whole team. People-oriented leaders treat members of their team equally, and are readily available to anyone who needs help or advice. Team members are often more productive and willing to take risks because they know the leader will provide support if they need it. However, it can be so focused on individuals that important tasks are overlooked and suffer.

The last one is task-oriented leadership, which is the opposite of people-oriented leadership. Task-oriented leaders focus only on getting the job done on time. They define the work that needs to be done, plan and organize how the work will be done, create and assign roles to do the work, put structures in place to manage performance and monitor the progress and standard of the work. The style is especially useful for team members who can’t manage their time well, but the leaders tend to be autocratic (独裁的) and not concerned about their team’s well-being. The team can suffer problems like low motivation.

Lots of people feel stressed out about buying and giving gifts around the holidays. Then, why do people give gifts in the first place? Throughout the world, many cultures mark special holidays with gifts and food. Holiday traditions bring people together and allow us to feel a part of family and community. The gifts and food that we share are all about expressing a sense of gratitude and joy.

The gifts of a few generations ago were probably more humble and homemade. Even the people who could afford luxurious presents probably didn’t do as much buying and spending as we do today. Today our culture has grown more commercial, and the majority of people tend to buy the perfect gifts, wish to get the perfect gifts and have the perfect party. Therefore, many people think that the holidays are too materialistic and the original meaning behind the tradition gets lost, which can leave people feeling empty and wishing for something more. It’s no wonder that we often hear about people having the “holiday blues” — feeling sad or empty instead of happy and fulfilled.

Well, if you’re feeling a little hollow about the holidays, what can you do? One way to take back the holiday spirit is to focus on traditions — and on putting real meaning into your holidays. To achieve this purpose, decide which family traditions you love most and then do something to put more emphasis on them. You also can talk to a grandparent, parent, uncle, or aunt about how they spent the holidays growing up. Some holiday traditions that used to be strong are lost today. Maybe you’d like to revive some of these as a way to share holiday spirit with your family, friends, or community. If you don’t have any family traditions, it’s never too late to start. Get together around activities you all enjoy, such as cooking or ice skating.

In addition, you also can make use of your holidays to do something kind for the less fortunate. For example, choose to help an organization or group that fits with your values and the things you believe in. If you love children, buy a present for a child in need. If animals are your thing, talk to your local animal shelter and offer your help. If you miss a grandparent and would like to spend time with the elderly, help out at a nursing home over the holidays.

In a word, one key to a relaxing and meaningful holiday is finding what works best for you, both in terms of gift giving and other holiday traditions. Putting some thought into what the holidays mean to you and then focusing your energies on those aspects that leave you feeling fulfilled can help you let go of the stuff that may be stressing you out.

Nowadays, the Internet has become part of people’s life, and millions of young people have made friends online. Making friends on the Internet sounds curious and interesting. You don’t know where they are. And most of all, they have no relation with you, so you can talk with them about anything.

However, making friends on the Internet may have a bad influence on you. Let’s read the following story.

Bill, Hillary’s brother, is a rude and impolite boy. So everyone in his school doesn’t like him. However, he really wants to have a friend, so he asks Hillary to help him. Then Hillary pretended to be Bill on the Internet and met a nice girl, Monica. Three months later, Hillary asked Monica to go out with “Bill” (her brother), and arranged everything for them. When they met each other at McDonald’s, Monica found that Bill wasn’t the one whom she talked to on the Internet. Then she ran away and never met him again.

Finally, Monica understood that it was very dangerous to trust her net-friends and date with them. And we all should be very careful on the Internet.

One possible version:

By citing a story between Bill, Hillary and Monica, the author wants to tell us that while it’s exciting and interesting to make friends on the Internet, it can also be very dangerous. Therefore, he advises us to be careful to make friends on the Internet.

Why do millions of people, especially young people, make friends online? There are some reasons contributing to this. Firstly, communication tools like MSN or QQ make people contact with each other conveniently and extensively. Secondly, people can make acquaintance with cyber friends from English-speaking countries and practice their English. Thirdly, admittedly, making friends online brings people a great amount of joy and unimaginable stimulating experience.

As for me, I don’t think it very wise to make friends online. Anyway, net communication can never take the place of the face-to-face talk. In addition, teenagers are easily getting addicted to this kind of fictitious relationship and finally lose the ability of surviving in real living environments.

When making friends online, it is necessary to be sensible and take precautions to ensure our safety. For example, we can be accompanied by one friend or someone else when meeting net friends outside. Only in this way can we enjoy the exciting experience and extreme convenience the net brings to us.

New York — Seventy students were involved in a pattern of smartphone-enabled cheating last month at Stuyvesant High School, city officials said on Monday.

The cheating involved several state exams and was found after a cell phone had been taken away from a 16-year-old junior during a citywide language exam on March 18, according to an investigation. Cell phones are not permitted in city schools.

When officials looked through the student’s phone, they found a trail of text messages, including photos of test pages, which suggested pupils had been sharing information about the exams while they were taking them. “Sixty-nine students received the messages and responded to them,” an official said.

All of the students will have to retake the exams. The one whose phone was taken away and who was said to be at the center of the cheating network will be removed from school and may have to transfer to another school by fall. Four other students involved in the cheating could also face being removed from school.

“With the development of technology, students always try to think of new ways to try to cheat. It’s not acceptable. This is the reason why we banned cell phones,” said the school’s headmaster.

One possible version:

This passage tells us a piece of news that in a high school of New York, about 70 students were found cheating in exams using cell phones and five of them would face being removed from school.

There are two major reasons why some students cheat in exams. Firstly, some of them are afraid of failure. Their parents always complain they acquire poor exam grades. Secondly, some students have no ability and lack self-confidence when facing exams.

Cheating in exams tends to bring about negative effects. It provides teachers with false information so they don’t know the students’ real performance. Also, cheating gives advantages to cheaters, which is unfair for the honest students who don’t cheat.

There is an old saying, “No pains, no gains.” In my opinion, any kind of cheating should be stopped, and any person should never cheat in exams.
