Activity 1 Fast reading 

1Activity Aimmake Ss have a brief understanding of the passage

Step 1.Warming up.

     Answer the following questions: 

1) What’s your opinion on advertisements?

  2) Do you think advertisements play an important role in your daily life?

    Why or why not?

Step 2. Reading strategy ----- reading expository writing 

      What is the format (格式) of a statement in expository writing?  

        1 introduction of the subject

        2 examples and facts that develop or support the idea

        3 conclusion

 Step 3. Fast reading:

Go through the passage as quickly as they can and try to find answers to the following questions:

     1. What do ads try to persuade people to do?

 

      2. What does PSA stand for?

 

      3. What do PSAs aim to do?
